Inspired by the elegant geometry of a collapsing woven basket, the proposed CIP Terminal at JKIA reinterprets a familiar symbol of Kenyan craftsmanship as a contemporary architectural landmark. A rhythmic screen of vertical fins wraps the building, creating a dynamic façade that provides shade while expressing the woven structure’s expanding and contracting form. Within, a sequence of landscaped courtyards punctuates the passenger journey, marking moments of pause and transition inspired by Kenya’s diverse landscapes. Together, the interplay of light, vegetation, and carefully choreographed movement creates an arrival and departure experience that is both serene and unmistakably rooted in place.
